See for yourself whether n-UVB phototherapy for Psoriasis really works

n-UVB Phototherapy is globally recognised within the medical profession as a highly effective treatment for Psoriasis. Please do take the time to read through the detail on our site which describes the medical science behind the therapy.

Below, you will find some before and after photos which illustrate precisely how effective the treatment can be. These are NOT stock photos from the internet. These are photos provided by a customer who recently (2023) purchased one of our Full body coverage 9 tube canopies.

Why UVB Phototherapy?

UVB therapy was developed in the late 1970’s and since then has been researched, refined and enhanced into a treatment regime which is globally recognised and practiced within the medical profession. Here in the UK, almost all NHS Trusts will operate a Dermatology Centre which will offer Narrowband UVB (n-UVB) Phototherapy. As prescribed by NICE and the British Association of Dermatologists, n-UVB Phototherapy has long been established as the second line of treatment for Psoriasis when Topical treatments prove ineffective.

MBS Phototherapy provide a range of Narrowband UVB Light Therapy devices which will enable you to access the same hospital therapy at home. Our devices use the same Philips 311nm n-UVB lamps which deliver the therapy in Hospitals and Dermatology centres.

Critically, to be effective, the UVB phototherapy regime requires a long series of very short exposure to n-UVB light. UVB Phototherapy is extremely effective in controlling Psoriasis, but this regime must be followed rigorously almost every other day for an initial period of 4-8 weeks before the treatment starts to take effect.

The phototherapy devices which MBS supply enable you to simply incorporate this highly effective treatment in your own daily routine and deal with flares as soon as they arise.

What are the benefits of UVB light therapy at home?

  • Access to therapy immediately, when you need it!
  • When your condition flares, you will avoid delays for an appointment with your GP or Dermatologist, and any subsequent referral or wait times associated with receiving the therapy at a treatment centre. *Please note* we strongly advocate that you keep your GP or Dermatologist aware of any therapy regime and always defer to their advice on any treatment of your condition.
  • Clinicians have not defined all of the triggers for these auto immune conditions. However, stress is a well recognised factor. Having immediate access to a medically proven remediation therapy will undoubtedly reduce your stress, thereby breaking the circle of anxiety leading to further exacerbation of your condition.
  • Typical light therapy regimes offered in the NHS require regular attendance at a hospital 2 to 3 times per week for exposure to Narrowband UVB light, with a treatment session time of between 30 seconds and an absolute maximum of 4 Minutes. This is a difficult schedule to adhere to from a purely practical perspective if you have a busy life or a job.
  • No creams or ointments.
  • No drugs, steroids, auto-immune suppressors or biological regimes.
  • Treating yourself at home will enable you to take back control of the management of your condition!

Our units only contain the Philips range of narrowband UVB lamps (TL01 and PL01 at 311nm). These are the leading light therapy tubes, designed specifically for medical use in the treatment of psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema and scleroderma, supported by over 400 independent clinical studies and used extensively within the National Health Service.

UVB Narrowband light therapy is also extremely beneficial for vitamin D deficiency, acne, atopic dermatitis, alopecia, lichen planca, pityriasis rosea and a few other similar skin conditions that react positively to UVB light.

UVB Light Therapy for Psoriasis and Vitiligo at home

Here at MBS, we are dedicated to helping our customers achieve normal healthy skin through the use of Philips UVB narrowband light treatment.  The same treatment used in hospitals and clinics worldwide is now available in the comfort of your own home – using Philips TL01 and PL01  narrowband tubes. It’s a concentrated form of UVB  with proven results (98.8% success rate).

People try various psoriasis treatments including creams, oral drugs, injections, coal tar soaps with varying degrees of success. However,  whilst there is no cure for psoriasis or vitiligo, light treatment for psoriasis using Philips 311nm UVB Narrowband lamps is a well established therapy, which can diminish and reduce skin conditions and in the vast majority of cases clear skin for a significant period of time.

With narrowband UVB light treatment for Psoriasis, most people see pronounced improvements after using for 4 to 8 weeks, (according to a BMJ medical report – 95% of  patients seeing either excellent, very good or good results – the other 5% were classed as fair, with nobody dissatisfied*). Philips TL01 UVB Narrowband tubes, are very successful at treating your condition, putting you in control and helping you to lead a normal life.

Please feel free to browse our information pages before making a decision – it is important you make the right choice and that you fully understand how this type of phototherapy treatment can help your skin condition.

Narrowband Canopies

ALL of our light therapy units contain the market leading Philips TL01 or PL01 tubes as recommended by doctors, dermatologists, clinics and hospitals worldwide. No matter how mild or severe your condition is we have a UVB phototherapy light unit suitable for your home treatment –  cabinets, canopies, mini and hand held units,  each UVB lamp being designed for different degrees of severity, intensity and body coverage.

We are able to offer our narrowband units VAT free (VAT free prices shown) to customers suffering from chronic medical conditions (the definition of “chronic” is that the condition is constant or recurs frequently e.g. most psoriasis/ vitiligo sufferers and in some cases eczema, sclerderma and atopic dermatitis etc.). Prices range from £247 to £7810. We are so confident it will work for you, we offer  a  money back guarantee to all customers who do not see any improvement in their condition (cabinets and canopies – see our terms and conditions – section 12).

UVB Light Therapy for Psoriasis does it really work?

Psoriasis is an immune-mediated condition. In simple terms the body’s immune system malfunctions, incorrectly triggering an immune response cycle that is normally used to repair damaged skin cells. Your immune system actually goes into hyperdrive, forcing a skin regeneration cycle which forces new cells to the skin surface in a matter of days where normally this process takes around 27 days. When these immature skin cells arrive at the skin surface, they form raw irritable patches and produce silvery white  flakes as the skin dies off.

Why is it important to understand that Psoriasis is an immune mediated condition?

  • Until we find a method of effectively controlling the immune system there is no way of curing Psoriasis permanently. All we can do currently is to alleviate the symptoms i.e. treat the irritable skin. As such, Psoriasis is treated as a chronic relapsing and remitting condition (it is a long-term condition, that, with treatment, can be relieved, but is likely to come back).
  • Because each of our immune systems are unique, the results in treatment of Psoriasis are all unique. One persons’ body may react really well to a course of topical steroids which may clear their Psoriasis, but that does not guarantee that treatment is effective for all others.
  • However, UVB Phototherapy has long been recognised as a safe, accessible and effective treatment to control Psoriasis for the majority of sufferers. It suppresses the immunes system response, which initiates and maintains the formation of Psoriasis plaques.

Yep… Interesting but does it work?

Well, we hope the last paragraph helped to inform you, but it’s also a bit of a disclaimer.

Within the Medical world n-UVB Phototherapy is universally recognised as the second line of treatment after Topical treatments have failed to work. On this basis alone, you can rest assured that it is an effective treatment. Consult your Doctor or Dermatologist and they will affirm the same.

Below, you will find some before and after photos which illustrate precisely how effective the treatment can be. These are NOT stock photos from the internet. These are photos provided by a customer who recently (2023) purchased one of our 9 tube canopies. However, back to our disclaimer, whilst we receive feedback from customers all the time describing these life changing, transformational results, we don’t want to sell our Phototherapy equipment as a miracle cure. That said, if you’ve consulted a Dermatologist or have experienced n-UVB Phototherapy in the NHS you will understand that these results are achievable.

Successful UVB light Therapy

Success with n-UVB phototherapy relies on you adhering to the treatment schedule absolutely. Because it is so critical to receive exposure to the n-UVB light at the prescribed intervals (between 3 & 5 times per week for at generally 8-10 weeks), within some Dermatology departments in the cash strapped NHS you risk the chance of loosing access to the therapy if you miss more than 2 consecutive appointments.

We have displayed a couple of before and after photos below, to give you an idea of exactly how effective n-UVB phototherapy can be when access to the therapy is controlled by you at home . These are NOT stock photos from the internet. These are photos provided by a customer who has been using one of our devices over the last couple of months (as I write it’s now Feb 24). He kindly documented his Psoriasis journey providing us with photos of his condition after 6 exposures to n-UVB, contrasted against after 28 sessions. These transformations are absolutely possible!  If you’ve consulted a Dermatologist or have experienced n-UVB Phototherapy in the NHS you will understand that these results are achievable. But critical to success is absolute adherence to the scheduled exposure to n-UVB light. Having access to the treatment at home makes this extremely simple, therefore significantly improving your ability to successfully manage your condition.

Warning be careful – you should not use any other tube to treat psoriasis or treat vitiligo, there are companies selling cheaper units that do not contain the Philips TL01 tubes and are therefore not only less effective at treating your condition but also they are more dangerous as they emit light at non-therapeutic and more harmful wavelengths. Always ask what tubes are in the unit before purchasing. Make sure your UVB lamp for psoriasis and  vitiligo contains Philips TL01 or PL01 narrowband tubes and nothing else. If you have been deceived and bought a unit from a third party that led you to believe their units contained Philips TL01 tubes and they delivered a unit with different tubes then please report them to Trading Standards.
