UVB Lamp for Psoriasis on Scalp

Although fairly common, scalp psoriasis can be very uncomfortable and at times painful, especially if left untreated. Typically, symptoms of scalp psoriasis include scaly red patches, itching, burning, soreness and even hair loss in more severe cases where excessive scratching has taken place. For many sufferers, it can be an embarrassing condition to deal with, and one that can often spread to other parts of the body such as the neck and forehead.

There are a range of treatments available on the market, one of the most effective being UVB light therapy. This form of scalp psoriasis treatment has become more and more popular over the years, as it has a success rate of 50-90% in reducing symptoms of psoriasis in a large proportion of sufferers.

Here at MBS, we offer the highest quality light therapy units, ideal for psoriasis scalp treatment. From full body coverage to handheld units ideal for specific problem areas, our range of units all use market-leading Philips Narrowband tubes, ensuring that you are treating your scalp psoriasis with the best technology available.

If you want to discuss your specific requirements with a member of our team, why not give us a call today and we’d be glad to help.

Psoriasis can occur anywhere on the skin, and very often this can take place on the scalp. Sometimes confused with dandruff, scalp psoriasis causes red, itchy and often flaky skin on the head that may be dry and sore.

Similar to other types of psoriasis, scalp psoriasis is caused by the body’s T Cells (white blood cells) sending incorrect signals to the body, which leads to excessive cell production. When this occurs, the body struggles to shed the excess cells, leading to a build-up which can cause irritation and flakiness of the skin.

Due to the nature of psoriasis, it is very possible that in some cases, it may temporarily clear up by itself. Although the condition can go into remission, the condition is very likely to come and go and so it’s likely that you may require treatments for scalp psoriasis at some point, whether your condition has been in remission for months or even years. This is because psoriasis is a chronic lifelong condition that cannot be cured, and so can come back at any time.

However, here at MBS we aim to provide our customers with the tools to take control of their psoriasis, and our light therapy units are ideal scalp psoriasis treatments, whatever the severity of your condition, or your budget. If you want to find out more about our units, contact us today to speak with a member of our team!

There are a number of treatments available for psoriasis sufferers, and some will be more effective than others. It is important to remember however, that every person is different and so whilst some treatments may be effective, others may not be. That being said, amongst some of the most popular psoriasis scalp treatments is light therapy, largely thanks to its high efficacy rate, which is between 50-90% in reducing common symptoms of psoriasis.

Light therapy is not only effective, but it is also a more practical way of treating scalp psoriasis as it is able to treat the affected area without the need for messy and awkward topical application. Whilst treating scalp psoriasis with light therapy is an effective method for many sufferers, it is important to remember that light therapy is merely a treatment, and not a cure for psoriasis.
