Partial Body Mini UVB Light Therapy Unit -UVB treatment for Psoriasis at home – n-UVB Phototherapy with Philips UVB 311nm narrowband lamps

This Partial Body Mini UVB Light Therapy Unit  is designed for people who suffer from Psoriasis, Vitiligo and other skin conditions which respond well to treatment with UVB light.

This unit is also excellent for helping Vitamin D levels.

The unit is designed for treating large localised areas of Psoriasis or Vitiligo eg. large patches on arms/ legs at home. However, if your whole body is affected we suggest that one of our whole body units would be more appropriate . The Unit has a light face of roughly 60 cm x 30 cm and contains two 311nm Philips PL01 medical UVB narrowband lamps (these are a smaller version of the TL01 lamp and use the same technology to produce the therapeutic narrowband UVB light). The unit is mounted on a robust tripod stand which enables you to focus the light on the affected areas thereby facilitating simple and straightforward treatment.

  • UVB Light Therapy delivered by 2 x Philips 311nm UVB Narrowband lamps
  • The lamp face  can be tilted to any angle – use horizontal or vertical.
  • Fully adjustable lightweight metal tripod stand
  • Clear acrylic Safety screens cover the lamps but do not impede exposure to UVB.
  • Lamp Light face is 570mm(22.5″) high, 300mm (12″) wide
  • Unit weighs 4.3Kg
  • Twelve month guarantee
  • British manufactured
  • Delivery within 3 working days by carrier.

Why choose a Partial Body UVB Phototherapy Unit?

Narrowband UVB Phototherapy is an extremely effective and respected treatment which works by exposing your skin to concentrated n-UVB light. In Hospitals you will be treated in  UVB Cabinets which surround your body with  6ft Philips TL01 n-UVB tubes which expose the whole of your body (back and front), to UVB light. We offer Cabinets and Canopies, designed for phototherapy treatment at home, which facilitate the same “Whole Body” treatment that you would receive in Hospital. These “Whole Body” units use the same 6ft Philips TL01 n-UVB tubes that are used in hospitals. However, this Partial Body UVB Phototherapy Unit, is a much smaller unit using 2 bulbs which are 1/3rd of the length of the full body  6ft tubes. This means that the Partial Body Unit delivers the same therapeutic light, but to a smaller area. The unit is ideal for treating larger areas of skin (for example, large Psoriasis plaques on the forearms or legs), however, we would suggest that you consider a full body unit with 6ft tubes if your condition is more extensive. Please do ring us on 01925 694 280 if you have any questions. Understanding every aspect of the therapy is critical to achieving the best result and we are more than happy to talk and can, hopefully, inform your choice regarding the most appropriate unit for treating your condition.

What is UVB Phototherapy?

UVB Phototherapy is an established and effective treatment that has been used in the NHS and globally since the 90’s after Philips produced their 311nm narrowband UVB light therapy lamps in 1988.

Research prior to this established the most therapeutic (and safest) form of UVB to be “Narrowband” UVB (NB-UVB, n-UVB) which is light in the 311nm-313nm spectrum.

n-UVB light therapy involves extremely short exposures of the skin (between 30 seconds and Max 4 minutes) to this therapeutic light, using UVB narrowband lamps to treat disorders such as Psoriasis, Vitiligo and Eczema. The same exposure regime using narrowband lamps also triggers increased Vitamin D production.

Why UVB Phototherapy at home rather than via the NHS?

UVB light therapy uses narrowband lamps to expose the skin to therapeutic n-UVB light for very short periods of time. Typically, this exposure will be between 30 seconds and a maximum of 4 minutes, 2-3 times each week, typically seeing results within 4 to 8 weeks.

Please note these estimations carefully. UV Phototherapy is extremely effective, but only if you stick to the treatment regime rigorously.

Contrasting NHS Phototherapy treatment appointments with UVB Phototherapy at home.

  • A UVB Light Therapy unit enables you to treat yourself at home very 4 times per week very simply.
  • You do not need to allocate any time for the treatment. You can integrate your 30 second – 4-minute exposure in your daily schedule, after a shower in the morning or your bath at night.
  • No time off work. No awkward conversation regarding your condition.
  • No problem sticking to the treatment schedule. You only have to find a spare 4 minutes somewhere in your day.
  • No travelling to a treatment centre.
  • No costs associated with attending a hospital appointment.
  • UVB Light treatment at home puts you permanently at the front of the queue for treatment.
    • If you miss a few sessions – Not a problem, just restart the course!
    • If your Psoriasis flares up – You can treat yourself immediately!
    • You can take control of the management of your condition!
    • Knowing that you can control your condition reduces the amount of stress associated with a flare. This can break the vicious circle where stressing exacerbates Psoriasis.

2 reviews for Partial Body Mini UVB Light Therapy Unit -UVB treatment for Psoriasis at home – n-UVB Phototherapy with Philips UVB 311nm narrowband lamps

  1. Robert Corbett

    Hi,
I have suffered with psoriasis for many years and it has always responded well to uvb light i can honestly say that this has been a great buy for me and its been even better being able to treat my skin at home highly recommended
    Thanks Rob.

  2. Kate

My daughter has been suffering from severe eczema which lead to infections from scratching and scaly skin that flaked all day. We had not luck with the hospital appointment after 6 months wait. I came across this UV lamp so decided to experiment- bought a small one as we didn’t expect much. We used this in sections to cover the entire body every second day for 3 months and I can’t say how please we are with the improvements it made. Flakiness all gone and red patches diminished. Itching still persists but nothing compared to what it was before. The only thing I would criticise is the stand- very unstable and not at all flexible. It can only go up and down and no rotation is possible. We have to hold the panel up lose to my daughter’s body instead of using the stand to suit where we want to expose the skin to. Better design or buy option without the stand needed.
